I do not think creativity is meant to happen in isolation all the time. Some things need quiet, yes. But so much of this work gets better when people share ideas, opportunities, questions, and space.
What Community Has Taught Me
Community is not just networking. It is the person who sends you a casting call. The model who brings a new pose idea. The assistant who notices a detail. The friend who reminds you to eat before the next setup.
Share resources:
If something helped you, consider passing it on. A link, a contact, a studio tip, a lighting note — it all adds up.
Make room for new people:
Everyone starts somewhere. If you can make the room less intimidating for someone else, do it.
Celebrate each other out loud:
Credit people. Recommend people. Tell people when their work moves you.
Building Something More Open
The reason I care about things like The Call Sheet is because I know access can change someone’s path. One opportunity can lead to a shoot, a friendship, a portfolio piece, a job, or a whole new direction.
We do not lose anything by helping each other grow.
The creative world I want to be part of is generous, curious, and full of people who leave the door more open than they found it.
